AuPair USA - Inaczej

Przed przylotem do stanów myślałam, że jestem przygotowana na wszystkie rzeczy, które będą się różniły od tych w Polsce. Naoglądałam się tych wszystkich vlogów innych aupair z przykładami typu :

• inaczej otwierające się okna
• inne klamki
• woda w toaletach stoi wyżej i spuszcza się w inny sposób
• ludzie są bardziej otwarci 
• wszędzie biegają wiewiórki
• wszystko jest duże (autostrady, samochody, jedzenie pakowane w duże pojemniki/kartony)

A TERAZ MOJA LISTA (która pewnie się powiekszy z czasem )

• nie można przesiadywać na placach zabaw po 22.00. Nie można nawet parkować przy placu zabaw, inaczej policja spisze Twój samochód i będzie zadawała pytania co tam robisz 
• w ubikacjach publicznych - przerwy w drzwiach są na tyle duże, że ludzie z zewnątrz Cię widzą. Trochę krępujące.
• drzwi otwierają się do środka
• wszystkie puby, cluby itp. zamykają się o 2 w nocy, a przynajmniej 90% w Texasie
• ciężko otworzyć okno, bo okien sie raczej tu nie otwiera (wszędzie jest klimatyzacja)
• wszystko jest gotowe lub prawie gotowe do zjedzenia, rzadko kiedy gotują od podstaw 
• nasz obiad to ich kolacja (najwiekszy posiłek w ciągu dnia jedzą wieczorem ok. 19.00)
• pralki posiadają określenia typu "cold/cold" "cold/warm" "warm/warm" "hot" itp. zamiast dokładnych temperatur
• w każdej restauracji dają pudełka "to go", czyli jeśli nie jesteś w stanie zjeść wszystkiego, możesz poprosić o zapakowanie reszty i zabrać ją do domu (w przeciwieństwie do Polski, tutaj jest to na porządku dziennym)
• odległość linii zatrzymania samochodu od świateł sygnalizacyjnych jest o wiele większa niż w Polsce (gdzie światła są zazwyczaj na równi z tą linią)
• przy zakupach np. ubrań itp. musicie się liczyć z tym, że ceny na metkach nie zawierają podatku. Jest on doliczany dopiero przy kasie.
• napiwki są wymagane, oczywiście możesz nie dać, ale będzie to uważane za szczyt buractwa.
• USA to kraina znaków "STOP"

Co do klimatyzacji... przez nią, pierwsze 2 tygodnie chodziłam chora. Trochę ciężko uwierzyć, że przy słonecznej pogodzie z temperaturą 33-39 C (przynajmniej tu w Texasie) można chodzić z zapchanymi zatokami i kaszlem . Owszem, można. Podczas gdy na zewnątrz panuje upał, w każdym centrum handlowym, zwykłym sklepie, stacji benzynowej, restauracji czy nawet domu odczuwamy chłód niczym z lodówki. 

Klimatyzacja jest straszna.

Texas Final Driving Exam - theory

When you complete your online course content you are allowed to take the final driving theory exam.

     1. You must take the exam in one session.

Driving Online Course

Since im still 24 years old and my international driving license over here is valid only for first 3 months of driving here i had to take an online driving course.

Texas online driving course takes around 6 hours + you need to call them few times during that course to verify verbally (read a couple of lines of numbers and that's it)
There are also 7 "mini exams" where you need to answer 2 questions (each) to make sure you read every slide and watch every video :D

AuPair - AuPairCare trening

Dzień w którym przylatujecie do USA jest dniem wolnym. W zależności od godziny dotarcia do hotelu macie wiecej lub mniej czasu na rozpakowanie się w swoim pokoju hotelowym, wstępnym zapoznaniu się z resztą dziewczyn oraz....DŁUŻSZY SEN:) Dlaczego?
Wasza strefa czasowa się zmienia, dzień staje się dłuższy, a każdy trening zaczyna się pobudką o 6 rano. Otrzymacie bluzę z logiem AuPairCare i plakietki zawierające wasze imię, nazwisko, narodowość oraz stan do jakiego lecicie.

Plan dnia:

• hotelowe budzenie o 6.00
• śniadanie do 8.00 
• trening trwajacy od 8.00 do ok. 16.30-17.00 (w tym przerwa na obiad)
• "godzina policyjna" o 22.30
• brak kolacji

Możecie opuścić hotel (do 22.30):

• używając hotelowego busa, który kursuje dwa razy dziennie do pobliskiego dużego centrum handlowego za opłatą (jeśli dobrze pamiętam to 1-2$ w jedną stronę i musicie szybciej wpisać się na listę chętnych w recepcji)
• wykupując wycieczkę autokarem za ok. 45$ do NY (wysadza was w kilku miejscach, by zrobić zdjęcia, reszta to objazdówka i widoki zza szyby)
• wykupując tylko transport autokarem do NY za ok. 30$ (zawozi was do NY i chodzicie po nim na własną rękę, po czym o ustalonej godzinie odwozi was do hotelu)
• mając znajomego lub rodzinę, która po was przyjedzie i zostawi kopie swojego dowodu osobistego oraz numer kontaktowy u osoby prowadzącej kurs

Nie wolno wam używać transportu publicznego z hotelu (np.: taxi, pociąg, autobus itd.)

Co obejmuje trening?

• informację o amerykańskiej kulturze
• jak wygląda praca AuPair
• co można robić z dziećmi w różnym przedziale wiekowym (gry, zabawy itp.)
• na czym polega praca waszej "Area Director"
• zapoznanie sie z Handbook, w którym notujecie co robiliście każdego dnia, jak zachowywały się dzieci i jakie macie uwagi dotyczące waszej pracy lub host rodziny 
• kurs pierwszej pomocy, CPR etc.
• na co uważać przy pracy z dziećmi (czyli np. typy jedzenia, którymi mogą się zakrztusić i co zrobić, żeby takiej sytuacji uniknąć)

Jednego dnia będą również sprawdzali wasze predeparture projects.

Trening sam w sobie nie należy do najciekawszych, ale przynajmniej daje okazję poznać większość AuPair oraz zwiedzić NYC.
